10.30am - 11am Carved from Coal - An audio play written and performed by The Greenham Tower Theatre Company

October 21 st , 1966, the last day of the autumn Half Term for the children of Pantglas Primary School. They’d be on their way home at lunchtime. Except that, at 9.15 as class registers were being taken, thousands of tons of rock, mud and slurry from the local coal mine collapsed, engulfing all in its path. The school was in its path.
‘Carved From Coal’ is a radio play by Andy Kempe. It tells the story of Gethin, played by Andy. Gethin didn’t go to school that day, but he saw the mountain slide and his school disappear. It took a week before all of the 116 children’s bodies were recovered.
