This Friday morning my Featured Artist at 8 is the Communards, which was formed in 1985 after singer Jimmy Somerville left his earlier band Bronski Beat to team up with classically trained musician Richard Coles. In 1967 they released their first No 1 Song “Don’t Leave Me This Way” and follow it with two more Top Ten hits. The band lasted for three three years and split up in 1988.
