Here’s what’s on FABULOUS 4LEGS Radio

7am – 9am The Pete Brady Breakfast Show

This Friday morning my Featured Artist at 8 is Lorde, the New Zeland singer and songwriter. She has won two Grammy Awards, Two Brit Award and a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. She appeared in Time’s list of the most influential teenagers in 2013 and 2014 and this week her latest single, What Was That, arrived in the UK Top 40 at Number 11. Don’t miss it!

9am – 11am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel

I’ll be looking back at the music, news entertainment and sport from the year 1994. There’s also the weekly look at the UK economy during “Business Matters” and Molly Hall from the N.A.W.T at Trindledown will be on the phone with the latest news from the Centre. Plus, Brian Quinn will join me in the studio with “What’s New Mr Q” with a run through of local news and events. Enjoy!

Business Matters is brought to you by Radio Newshub

11am – 11.30am The Local Eco Show

This week Penny talks to Matt Somerville from Bee Kind Hives who is working at Sheepdrop to create tree habitats for a healthy wild bee population that will be in tune with the Sheepdrove environment, not so susceptible to varroa and able to express natural behaviours and live in harmony with other pollinators and farm wildlife.

This show is sponsored by Sheepdrove Organic Farm

11.30am - 12noon It's Time to Talk with Sarah Roberts

This week Sarah will be talking to Kelvin Hughes (pic right) who’s the Chief Executive at The Newbury Community Resource Centre, and they are celebrating their 25th year serving the Community.

12noon – 12.30pm The Downlands Racing Show with Chris Carter Brennan

This weekend sees the Derby and Oaks trial and Lingfield Park. Plus at Ascot there’s one of the most valuable handicaps outside of the Royal meeting which is the Victoria Cup when nearly 30 runners will gallop 7 furlongs up the straight track. Chris will do his level best to find you the winner of that race but it won’t be easy.

12.30pm – 1.30pm 'Half-Light' a Radio Play by Andy Kempe

Originally written by Andy Kempe (pic) to be performed to commemorate the 75 th anniversary of VE Day, the play wasn’t staged by The Greenham Tower Theatre Company at the Control Tower until March 2022 due to Covid. Now, in time for the 80th anniversary, it has been adapted for radio. The play draws on careful research into local history to capture the sometimes humorous, and ultimately moving, effect of a momentous day in history on ordinary people.

1.30pm - 3.30pm Face2Face with Tim & Linda Forrester

On the 1.30 Face2Face slot, Tim and Linda check out the sport of maggot racing , have a (delayed) look at Morris dancing, search out the oldest person alive, find some birthday facts about chocolate digestives, and look back to see what life was like in the UK in the first few years after VE Day.  The music ranges from the 40s right up to the modern day.

3.30pm - 5.20pm The Retro Radio Show with Andy Henly

Join Andy Henly for the retro radio show. Share your memories on Facebook.com forward slash Retro Radio Show. This week’s School Days Challenge tackles the subject of Maths and lost TV  remembers a classic gameshow. Finally, Help compile Andy’s Mix Tape with your choice of classic song, tell us why it should be on it and we’ll do the rest.
