What’s On 2025-01-31

7am – 9.30am The Pete Brady Breakfast Show

This week I have an extra half hour of music selected to start the last day of the working week with a smile. Plus, as I do every morning at 8,  I have a featured artist and this week it’s Chaka Khan, known as  ‘The Queen of Funk’.

To date, she’s won ten Grammies and been nominated into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame three times as a solo artist and four times  as a band member of Rufus, featuring Chaka Khan.

Don’t miss it!

9.30am – 11am This Week with Penny

Penny’s guest this week is Gill Leech from West Berkshire Mencap. She will be sharing details of their Annual Charity Race Day at Newbury on February 28.

Also Brian Quinn will be providing a round up of local news and events with his ‘What’s New, Mr Q’ feature.

11am – 12noon Songwriters and their Stories with Chris & Tim

This week, Chris Booth and Tim Forrester present one of their favourite songwriters. Randy Newman (pic right).  From family and home to class and race and from Sigmund Freud to Putin, Newman has varied his subject matter but never his dry, laconic style. Mixing brilliant one liners with gorgeous melody, Newman has been publicly admired by Paul McCartney and Paul Simon and has had his songs covered by everyone from Tom Jones to Barbara Streisand and Ray Charles.

This show was first broadcast in October 2024

12noon - 12.30pm Downlands Racing with Pat Murphy

Pat Murphy makes a welcome return to  look back at the past 7 days in racing and preview the weekend’s race meetings with the main fixture at Sandown Park (pic) on Saturday. As always he’ll try to find the 4LEGS punters a winner or two,

12.30pm – 1.30pm Pop Quizzical with Tim Stutt

Enjoy another round of this very popular music quiz with your regular Pop Meister Tim Stutt

1.30pm – 3.30pm Face2Face with Tim & Linda Forrester

On this week’s Face2Face, Linda and Tim finally reveal the winner of the prestigious number one all time TV Comedy programme, as selected by the Face2Face panel.

We also look at the latest service offered to flyers, we check out  a course designed to help  to use a  telephone and we get real (or not) on catching up with the latest Gen Z language.  As ever, our music selection  music mixes the old with the new.
