What’s On 2024-10-11

Here’s what’s on FABULOUS 4LEGS Radio

7am – 9am The Pete Brady Breakfast Show

This Friday I have another two hours of music selected to start your day in the right mood. Plus, at 8, my Featured Artist this week is Stevie Nicks (pic), the American singer-songwriter best known for her work with Fleetwood Mac. She has had eight Grammy Award nominations plus two American Music Awards as a solo artist. She is the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. First as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998 and as a solo artist in 2019. Don’t miss it!

9am – 11am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel

On an entertaining Yabber Yabber show I’ll take a look at this day in music history and I’ll also be playing another two recordings of the late great comedian Bob Newhart (pic right) when he talks about some hilarious experiences of a trainee Bus Driver and life  on a Submarine. There’s the regular “business matters” slot which looks at the UK economy in the past week and Brian Quinn will provide the local news and event info in “what’s new Mr Q”. I’ll also take a look at some news from the Newbury area. There will of course be some marvellous tunes as well.

11am – 12noon This Week with Penny

This week Penny talks to presenter Maurice O’Connor (pic right) from Community Radio Kilkenny City in Kilkenny County in south east Ireland about their respective Local Eco Shows. And Penny also discusses pumpkins, and how millions are wasted at Halloween and recipe suggestions for using them up.

12noon - 12.30pm Downlands Racing with Chris Carter Brennan

There’s some great Group races at Newmarket over the weekend plus the marathon 2mile+ Club Godolphin Cesarewitch handicap which unbelievably is run across 3 counties. Chris will preview some of these races and will also look back at last Sunday’s Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe

12.30pm – 1.30pm Songwriters and their Stories with Chris & Tim

This week, Chris Booth and Tim Forrester present one of their favourite songwriters. Randy Newman (pic right).  From family and home to class and race and from Sigmund Freud to Putin, Newman has varied his subject matter but never his dry, laconic style. Mixing brilliant one liners with gorgeous melody, Newman has been publicly admired by Paul McCartney and Paul Simon and has had his songs covered by everyone from Tom Jones to Barbara Streisand and Ray Charles.

This show was first broadcast last Friday 4th October

1.30pm – 2.30pm Pop Quizzical with Tim Stutt

More great music and tricky questions in our regular quiz with as usual quizmaster Tim Stutt asking the questions.
