I’ve the usual mix of music, local news & events information and a look at the UK Economy during the past seven days. Plus I pay tribute to American Comedian Bob Newhart (pic right), who sadly passed away last week with a couple of his very funny examples of his take on situations us adults may find ourselves in.
10.30am – 11am The Local Eco Show
In a special Eco Show about the Big Butterfly Count that runs until Sunday 4 August, Penny talks to Dr Katrina Easterling (pic), a trained butterfly monitor for the charity Butterfly Conservation. Katrina became interested in butterflies and moths when she did the Big Butterfly Count herself. Katrina is also a member of the Nature Advisor Council for the North Wessex Downs National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

11am - 12noon This Week with Penny
This Week with Penny sees Alison Hesketh (pic right) from Time Finders join Penny in the studio. Time Finders is an innovative company that offers practical and emotional support to older people and their families in changing circumstances. Alison founded Time Finders after helping her own mother and realising there was a huge need for this service.
12noon – 12.30pm The Downlands Racing Show with Chris Carter Brennan
It’s the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes at Ascot on Saturday which is worth in excess of £700,000 to the winner. Chris will be trying his best to find you the winner of this prestigious race and he’ll also preview a few of the key races taking place at Glorious Goodwood next week.
12.30pm – 1.30pm A Slice of England with Andy Westgate
Listen to Andy Westgate when he presents a one hour special, A SLICE OF ENGLAND. Inspired by Robert Browning’s poem ‘Home Thoughts from Abroad’ and Andy’s own experiences of being at boarding school in Africa. It’s a celebration of our great English Classical Composers and what it is that draws us back to this Green and Pleasant Land.
1.30pm - 2.30pm Rain with Tim Forrester & Chris Booth
It has been said that ‘everywhere you go you always take the weather with you’? Having covered the sun in a previous program, this afternoons program is all about famous pop songs that feature rain in as their theme. Tune in and soak up this eclectic selection of great rain songs and see how many you know.
2.30pm - 4.30pm Face2Face with Tim & Linda Forrester
On Face2Face this week, Linda and Tim feature James Bond, John Lennon, a man who went to war with a with a bowler hat and umbrella, the arrival of the Light programme, what happened on this day, a snooker legend and a couple of stories of high adventure. Plus plenty of music.
