Here’s what’s on FABULOUS 4LEGS Radio

9am – 11.15am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel

This week’s studio guest is Robert McGuinness who’s chairman of the Royal Naval Association (RNA) branch in Newbury. He’ll be talking about the support the RNA provides for naval personnel whilst in active service and afterwards. Robert will also talk about his experiences in the Royal Navy which he joined in 1966 and his time in the Police Force as a ‘Local Bobby’ in Great Shefford. There’s the weekly look at the UK economy during the ‘Business Matters’ slot and Brian Quinn will provide local news and event information. There’ll be great tunes to enjoy as well.

11.15am – 12noon The D.I.Y. Show with Keith Fryer

It’s the quarterly DIY show with Keith Fryer of Forte Builders Merchants. Keith will be talking about fencing, but not the normal gardening stuff (although that will be included) but agricultural and equine fencing which Forte will soon be supplying. Also, with all the rain we’ve had a rather apt topic is underground drainage and the materials needed. Plus, have the Japanese really launched a satellite made of wood? Keith will no doubt explain all.

12noon - 12.30pm Downlands Racing Show with Chris Carter Brennan

Chris looks back at some of the highlights from the past 7 days of racing and previews the weekend fixtures at Kempton Park and Newcastle. At Kempton Park there are three grade 2 races and at Newcastle there’s the marathon 4mile 1 furlong Betting.Bet Eider handicap Chase.

12.30pm – 1pm Let There Be Drums with Max & Chris

In today’s show Max and Chris focus on female drummers including Viola Smith (pic left) who was renowned for being the “fastest girl drummer in the world” during the 1930s. She also lived to the ripe old age of 107. There’s also audio clips from Karen Carpenter, Dave Clark and Ginger Baker. The show concludes with a piece on Ringo Starr and 2 of The Beatles tracks

1pm – 2pm Songwriters and their Stories with Chris Booth & Tim Forrester

Your chance to listen Chris Booth and Tim Forrester who combine to front a new programme called ‘Songwriters and Their Stories’. This show was first broadcast in August 2023.

First to be featured are a husband and wife team who wrote hit after hit and were widely admired, the Beatles being among their fans. We pick out the best of their music (and not always the obvious tracks) and we find out the stories behind the songs.
