9am – 11am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel

Today’s ‘live’ studio guest is Roger Allison (pic right) who’s the Publicity Organiser for Read Easy West Berkshire.  The West Berks group was formed in January 2023,  and are now coaching 8 readers, with more in the pipeline. Their big challenge is finding more people they can support.  There’s also the weekly look at the local news and events with Brian Quinn and we’ve our usual “business matters” slot which tells you what’s been happening in the UK economy over the past 7 days. There’ll be lots of great music too. Enjoy!

11am – 11.30am The Sheepdrove Eco Show

As the countries of the world convene at COP28 to discuss the climate crisis this week, the Sheepdrove Eco Show invites an eminent climate scientist to summarise the COP process for us and Penny talks to the organisers of the recent COP28 vigil in Newbury. We also hear about a socially equitable levy on carbon consumption proposed by the Citizen Climate Lobby.

It’s Newbury’s big race weekend of the jump season with some fantastic racing on both Friday and Saturday. The feature race being The Coral Gold Cup on Saturday. Can Pat & Chris find you the winner? Tune in to find out when they’ll be going  through all the runners and riders in the big race.

In this 5th show in the series the focus is on ‘hired guns’  (session musicians). You may not know some of  the drummers like Hal Blaine and Max Weinberg but you’ll know some of the artists they’ve worked with and songs and the tracks they’ve played on. Also, did you know that Stevie Wonder played the drums on some  of his tracks? We’ll be playing some snippets from those those tracks as well

2.30pm - 4.30pm Face2face with Tim & Linda Forrester

On this week’s Face2Face, Tim and Linda look back at the story behind the Guinea Pig Club of WW2, find out who the Map Men are, check out the real Cary Grant story and pit forward some ideas for Christmas entertainment. Plus lots of non Christmas music, ranging from Jim Diamond to Echo and the Bunnymen and Diana Ross.
