As usual, this week Pete will be playing two hours of music selected to get you started on the bright side. Plus, the Featured Artist at 8 is Marvin Gaye. He helped to shape the sound of Motown in the 1960s, first as an in-house session player and later as a solo artist with a string of successes, earning him the nicknames “Prince of Motown” and “Prince of Soul”.

With Pat Murphy unavailable this week Chris Carter Brennan takes the helm for the Downlands Racing Show where he will preview the weekend’s action including an in-depth look at Sunday’s Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp in Paris
12.30pm – 1.30pm Songwriters and their Stories with Chris Booth
Some of the most famous songs we all like to dance to were probably composed by this weeks song writing trio ‘Holland-Dozier-Holland’ (pic right). You may have never heard of them but they were the real heart of the Motown Boom. In this edition of ‘ the Songwriters and their Stories’ Chris Booth will show how ‘Holland-Dozier-Holland’ were influential in the development of the timeless Motown song heritage through the 1960’s and beyond.

First broadcast in November 2022 it’s another chance to listen an edition of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Pete will be playing the music of the stars inducted into the Hall from 2003 to 2005. Those stars include the Police, The Righteous Brothers, Jackson Brown, George Harrison, Prince, ZZ Top, U2 and more. If you are a rock fan this is a must for you. Don’t miss it.
