This week it’s the year that began the huge rise in popularity of the Beatles across the United Kingdom and soon the world. Their influence was felt in the world’s charts and in the development of music as a whole. In ’64, forty artists achieved their first top ten single in the UK charts. They included the Animals, The Kinks, The Nashville Teens, Cilla Black, The Supremes and the Rolling Stones. For three hours, we will be playing Best of the Rest that didn’t make it To No.1 that year.
