9am – 12 noon Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel
Chris has 2 live telephone guests on today’s show. The first is James Cole (pic left)who’s one of the District Councillors that represent the Hungerford & Kintbury Ward. The conversation will cover how his role has changed operationally during the Corona Virus plus why the planning application was rejected that would have removed the possibility of treated sewage entering the River Lambourn. The second is Gill Leech from West Berks MENCAP. Gill will explain how daily life and routines have changed at the MENCAP Centre for both staff and clients over the past 3 months. Plus there’ll be local news, great tunes and another clip from a classic TV show. Enjoy!
12noon – 12.45pm The Downland Racing Show
As a result of racing restarting it’s great to have the weekly Downland Racing show back on the radio. In today’s show both Pat Murphy (pic left) and Chris Carter Brennan (pic right) give their thoughts on the first week of racing under the new restrictions. Plus they preview the first 2 classics of the flat season which take place at Newmarket over the weekend, these being the 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas.
12.45pm – 1.30pm This Week with Penny
When Mike Hissey from Grove heard about 9 year old Kyle (pic left) and his incurable brain tumour he decided to make what might be Kyle’s last birthday the best ever. Find out how Mike, with the help of Steve Taylor from Lambourn, made this young Transformer and Pokémon fan’s dream come true last weekend. Penny will also be catching up with wild bird rescuer Aimee Wallis (pic right) who is working round the clock to look after lots of fledglings at this time of year.
1.30pm – 2pm Knock Knock with Suzi Cairns
Suzi chats to racehorse trainer Jamie Osborne (pic) about his yard’s contribution to community morale. Over the ten week lockdown period, Jamie and his staff have produced some fabulous musical videos, which have raised the spirits of the Lambourn Valley. Suzi discovers who it was that engineered these mini masterpieces and whether there is an aspiring Spielberg at Uplands.
