When Tom Dunlop (19yrs) said he was going to take a Gap Year his parents were happy for him to do it as long as at some point he did something for someone else. Little did they know about the logistics it was to involve. His challenge is to cycle over 2,600 miles visiting all 60 Great British racecourses, starting at Newton Abbot racecourse on Sunday 27th July finishing at Newbury racecourse on Thursday 28th August. This is an epic solo, self-navigating effort that will sap every inch of his physical, mental strength and effort. The charities he is supporting are the Injured Jockeys Fund and Diverse Abilities, a Dorset charity. Tom’s mother’s godson Ollie Meyrick (21yrs) has Angelman’s Syndrome and attends the day centre regularly and they are trying to build a hydrotherapy pool which will make a huge difference to his life.
Anyone can join him on a leg of this epic event. If all goes to plan, he will finish at his home racecourse Newbury in time for their evening meeting where we plan a big welcome party!
