Local Community Unsung Hero award

Counting has been completed and the winners of the Local Community Unsung Hero award were announced on Friday February 21st on Chris’ Yabber Yabber show. James Potter of Eastbury was the overall winner, and was awarded the new trophy,  sponsored by Joshua Khan’s The Great Shefford. James also wins a voucher for a meal for two at the Great Shefford. Three other prizes were added, one as a lifetime tribute to Lambourn’s remarkable 90 year old, George Bodman and the other two to two outstanding villagers, Serena Nickson of Great Shefford and Patrick Hickman-Robertson of Eastbury.

Do listen to the programme to hear their remarkable stories.

Rachel Peters, Community Development Officer for Sovereign Housing Association, works closely with community groups in the Lambourn Valley and across Berkshire. She said: “The Unsung Hero of the Lambourn Valley brings people together to identify and recognise others who go that extra mile and help their community be the best it can be. At Sovereign, our communities work is all about finding those unsung heroes, recognising their gifts and skills and connecting them with others to create strong, connected communities. It is great that our visions fit so well together and we fully support 4 Legs Radio in championing these awards.”
