Sovereign keeps 4Legs Radio communities chatting
Sovereign Housing Association will sponsor Lambourn Valley-based 4Legs Radio, to help the local community radio station keep on chatting for the next 12 months.
The funding will help the station with plans to expand its activities within the local community, including offering young people and Sovereign residents who are keen to gain work experience in a media environment, the chance to present their own show.
Jennifer Bowley, Sovereign community development officer for Berkshire and Oxfordshire, who appeared live on 4Legs to make the sponsorship announcement, said: “Local radio offers us an excellent medium to talk to different audiences across our community. We want people to be proud of where they live, and we want our neighbourhoods to flourish as people get to know each other and feel confident that they can work with us to achieve their aims.
“We want people across our communities – not just our residents – to know that they can ask us for support if they want to get a specific project off the ground. It could be creating a group to work on traffic safety, or keeping an area tidy or revamping a play park – anything that concerns someone who lives where we have homes. Being able to talk about what we do via 4Legs Radio adds another great method of communication.”
Chris Capel from 4Legs Radio, said: “Sovereign’s sponsorship means so much to this station. It provides a big first step in our plans to expand. We seek to support more members of the community and to help bring people together by providing local information and promoting causes, initiatives and events”.
