This week we introduce a brand new show and new presenter to the schedule, Fizzy Friday with Jonny Welch….

You’ll hear about a local Operatic Society’s 25th year anniversary and how our local semi-pro football team faired in their first home game of the season. We’ll be exploring our creative side with a local sculptor and pottery teacher and in the racing world there’s an international theme to the weekend’s action. Listen to a local resident talk about her life growing up in a large city and there’ll be an in depth interview with the chair of Great Shefford PCC. All this plus another hour of the popular 4 Legs pop quiz and not forgetting a new show which focuses on current affairs, social topics and local events.

Schedule: 

8am – 10am The Pete Brady Breakfast Show

Join Pete Brady for 2 hours of great music starting at 8 including a feature on Stevie Wonder at 9. Other artists providing memorable music include ELO, Alice Cooper, Suzi Quatro, The Walker Brothers, Elvis Presley, Paul Simon, Adele and Phil Collins

10am – 11am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel

Chris will playback his post match interview with Hungerford Town Manager Ian Herring (pic left) after their 1-0 win against local rivals Slough Town. He’ll also be chatting to Jim Mitchell(pic right) about the 25th anniversary of the Kennet Operatic Society and some of their upcoming events plus he’ll play a couple of appropriate pieces of music.  

11am – 12 noon This Week with Penny

Local sculptor and pottery teacher Diana Pattendon (pic) will be talking about the importance of exploring our creative sides – to be mindful and slow down and take a second look at what’s around you, enjoy working with your hands and experience pride and satisfaction from making something unique. Diana has a lovely studio in Newbury where you can join one of her courses or even have a party.

12noon – 12.30pm The Downland Racing Show with Pat Murphy

At Ascot this weekend UK jockey’s will be in competition with other racing nations to win the prestigious prize known as The Shergar Cup. Pat will give his views and predictions for this competitive event plus what’s been happening in the world of racing during the past week.

12.30pm – 1.30pm Knock Knock with Suzi Cairns 

Another chance to listen to Suzi’s interview with Lambourn resident Tina Nims(pic) who compares her experience of growing up in Urban Manchester with her daughter’s rural childhood

1.30pm – 2.30pm Pop Quizzical with Tim Stutt

Another round of this popular music quiz with pop master Tim Stutt. 

2pm – 4.30pm Face2Face with Pat Heslop and Tim Forrester.

On Face2Face this week Pat and Tim will be welcoming Steve Ackrill, (pic) chair of the Great Shefford PCC. Steve has lived in these parts all his life and has a good understanding of the issues which concern villagers. Here is a chance to ask him any questions about his role and to find out the latest on the Parish Council’s current priorities. They also welcome back Linda, who can give us an update on the state of our gardens and the priorities involved in maintaining plenty of colour for the rest of the summer.

4.30 – 5.30pm Fizzy Friday with Jonny Welch

In his very first show Jonny (pic) will be talking about Hungerford Town FC, The Herongate Gym and the Placebo effect ‘fact or fiction’ accompanied by great music. Stay tuned for what promises to be a very entertaining hour.
