Our very own Patrick Chambers from Eastbury has been appointed Chairman of Hungerford Town FC (pic – Patrick’s not the dog) and has already started some of the work needed to get the club to a sustainable position for the future.
But the immediate task is to ensure Hungerford remains in The Vanarama National League South. They currently sit 3 points clear of Truro, who are in the last relegation place with their final match at home this Saturday against East Thurrock, who were relegated yesterday. So a draw should be good enough
Hungerford a.k.a. ‘Crusaders’ are in great form having beaten the champions Torquay 1-0 last weekend with a 90th minute winner. If you’ve never been to watch Hungerford before they play a very good standard of football and they are our nearest semi-pro team. So why not go along this Saturday to Bulpit Lane kick-off 3pm to cheer the boys on. There’s also a junior 5 a side pre match, so the bars will be open from lunchtime. What better way could you spend a Saturday afternoon???
Moving forward 4 Legs Radio will be following the fortunes of Hungerford Town next season and plan to provide reports from a number of their games plus we will hopefully get an occasional interview with the new chairman as well.
COME ON CRUSADERS!!
