7am – 9am The Pete Brady Breakfast Show
What a week, and it’s still hot! Speaking of hot, this morning’s music will get you going on the bright side. This weeks Featured Artist at 8 is Sam Smith (Pic right). Sam’s achievements include five Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, and an American Music Award, as well as a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. All of that since 2014! Don’t miss it!
9am – 11am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel
It’s the start of the Rugby World Cup so Chris will be looking at the history of the competition and the sport of Rugby Union. Plus there’ll be the usual “Business Matters” slot and “What’s New Mr Q” with Brian Quinn will provide the latest local news and events info. There’s also ‘This day in Music History’ and there’ll be an array of terrific tunes. Enjoy!
11am – 12noon This Week with Penny
This week Penny catches up with Tom Sherrin (pic) who has progressed from writing Metallica reviews for Penny Post to writing lyrics for his heavy metal band RIPPINGDEXD Tom will also be sharing his experience of being on the spectrum and the advocacy support he receives from Mike Bowden.
12noon - 12.30pm Downlands Racing Show with Pat Murphy & Chris Carter Brennan
There’s some terrific racing this the weekend at Haydock Park in England and The Curragh (pic) in Ireland with 5 Group 1 races between the 2 venues. Pat and Chris will trawl through the form and hopefully find you the winners of these valuable races
12.30pm – 1.30pm A Slice of England with Andy Westgate
Another chance to listen to Andy Westgate when he presents a one hour special, A SLICE OF ENGLAND. Inspired by Robert Browning’s poem ‘Home Thoughts from Abroad’ and Andy’s own experiences of being at boarding school in Africa. It’s,a celebration of our great English Classical Composers and what it is that draws us back to this Green and Pleasant Land.
1.30pm – 2.30pm Classical Gas with Chris Booth
On Classical Gas this month Chris will be presenting ‘Rock me Amadeus’ He’ll be playing some short pieces of popular music that you know and love but can’t quite place. These excerpts will have been composed by the musical genius, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. From ‘The Horse of the Year’ show to ‘The Wombles’…everybody has been touched by Mozart. So why not tune in to Classical Gas on Friday at 1.30. Learn the stories behind Mozart’s best work and discover some great orchestral tunes.
2.30pm – 4.30pm Face2Face with Tim & Linda Forrester
On Face2Face this week, Tim and Linda wonder about the pilot who disappeared, recall the ground breaking humour of birthday boys Harry Secombe and Peter Sellers and pay tribute to a singer songwriter who made himself a fortune. Plus getting in line with some Roman soldiers (pic) and remembering some true eccentrics. The music will range from Sam Ryder to Barbara Dickson.
