Sting recently celebrated his 70th birthday and had a new album released last week. Two good reasons to make him Pete’s featured artist on this week’s show at 8. Starting as lead singer of The Police followed by a successful solo career, he has sold over 100 million records.

Chris is back with 2 hours of music, local and national news items plus details of events in the West Berkshire area including a Christmas show with a difference performed by the Wantage Silver Band (pic). Enjoy!
11am – 12noon This Week with Penny
This week Penny goes to South Fawley to meet Ness (pic) from Horse Drawn Occasions and their wonderful Suffolk Punch and Percheron heavy horses. They moved here from Winchester in early 2021 so this is the first year they are offering Christmas carriage rides in our local area.
12noon - 12.45pm Downlands Racing with Pat Murphy & Chris Carter Brennan
It’s Newbury biggest 2 day race meeting of the jump season with the feature race the Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase on Saturday. Pat will be looking to continue his recent tipster form by finding you the winner of the big race. Plus Chris Carter Brennan will be calling in ‘Live’ from the course to give all the latest news which might include a few pointers from some of the trainers.
12.45pm – 1.30pm Let's Chat with Pat Heslop & Chris Capel
It’s great to have 4LEGS presenter Pat Heslop (pic) back in the studio to chat with Chris Capel.
With ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here’ back on ours screens Pat and Chris ask have we turned into a nation obsessed with Reality TV? Also what the heck are social media influencers and are people now afraid to say anything through fear of offending or being branded as non-PC? With some music thrown in it should be an entertaining 45 minutes.
1.30pm – 2.30pm Classical Gas with Chris Booth
On Classical Gas this month Chris will be presenting ‘Rock me Amadeus’ He’ll be playing some short pieces of popular music that you know and love but can’t quite place. These excerpts will have been composed by the musical genius, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. From ‘The Horse of the Year’ show to ‘The Wombles’…everybody has been touched by Mozart. So why not tune in to Classical Gas on Friday at 1.30. Learn the stories behind Mozart’s best work and discover some great orchestral tunes.
2.30pm - 4.30pm Face2Face with Tim & Linda Forrester
On Face2Face this week, Linda and Tim search out quirky news stories from India and Egypt as well as finding rare honeybees rather closer to home. Who was the bravest VC of all? We find a candidate. Plus the most lucrative road camera in the UK , the second part of the Whiney Houston (pic) story and plenty of music.
4.30pm - 5.30pm Old Wild Men with Max & Tobi
The boys conjure up a real mixture of tunes for you to enjoy this week. It includes well known artists Muddy Waters and Talking Heads plus lesser know artists C.W. Stoneman and Bob Brozman & Jeff Lang. But listen out for ‘Who put the Benzedrine in Mrs Murphy’s Ovaltine’ by Harry “The Hipster” Gibson (pic right). Entertaining stuff to kick start your Friday evening.
