Ryan O’Connell’s 21 Football Club Cycling challenge for Prostate Cancer UK

Ryan O’Connell (pic) is taking on an immense cycling challenge to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK. Over the next few months Ryan will be cycling to each of the football teams in the National League South Division from his hometown of Crawley in West Sussex. Some of the teams he’ll be visiting are in excess of 100 miles. For example Bath City in the West is 132 miles from Crawley.  He will be arriving at each club before the kick-off of one of their Saturday Home fixtures.

40-year-old dad of four Ryan admits ‘he’s not a cyclist’ and he says ‘the first thing he’d like to achieve is better fitness’ and he’s certainly going to need that on some of these trips.

Ryan is connected with football and works for the Football Manager series as Head Researcher. For anyone that doesn’t know Football Manager it’s a football simulation game where you can put yourself in the role of Head Coach / Manager.

From his challenge Ryan is aiming to raise £2,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and he’s already raised 40% of that figure from the 6 clubs he’s visited so far. If you’d like to make a  donation you can do so by clicking on the following link:

You can find out all about Ryan’s challenge by listening to Chris Capel’s ‘Live’ interview with him at approximately  10.15am on this Friday’s Yabber Yabber show (October 8th)

Also, why not meet Ryan in person on Saturday 16th October when he will have cycled the 85 miles from Crawley to Hungerford Town FC in time for the kick-off of the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round tie against Bromley.
