Here’s what’s on FABULOUS 4LEGS Radio

7am – 9am The Pete Brady Breakfast Show

Sadly, Don Everly passed away last Saturday. As a tribute to him and his brother Phil, who died in 2014, Pete’s Featured Artist at eight will be an extended listen to the Everly Brothers, described by Paul Simon as “the most beautiful sounding duo I ever heard.”

As usual, the rest of the music mix is designed to start the day in “happy” mode. Don’t miss it!

9am – 11am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel

On another busy Yabber Yabber show Chris’s guest in the studio is local amateur yachtsman Steve Pearce (pic left) who talks about his 2 month sailing adventure around parts of England and Wales this summer and his plans to sail the entire English, Scottish and Welsh coastline next year.  Also Hungerford Town FC chairman Patrick Chambers (pic right) will be on the phone to wax lyrical about the tremendous start his team’s had to the new league season and the fantastic ticket deal for this Saturday’s home game against Tonbridge Angels.  Chris also pays tribute to Charlie Watts (pic left), one of the greatest rock n’ roll drummers who sadly passed away earlier this week and will be  playing an interview Charlie had with Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers a few years ago. Plus there’ll be local and national news items and great music.

11am – 12noon This Week with Penny

This week Penny will be discovering all about European Eels with Anna and Mia from Action for the River Kennet. These amazing fish start life over 6,000km away in the Sargasso Sea but migrate to Europe to spend most of their lives in our freshwater rivers. They are now classified as critically endangered and Action for the River Kennet is working to improve the future of this fascinating fish through the Thames Catchment Community Eels Project.

Award-winning Celtic musician Mark Turauskis will be performing live in Lambourn Church yard at 2pm this Saturday 28 August. Mark lives in Thatcham and composed the theme tune for Knock, Knock with Suzi Cairns.

12noon - 12.30pm The Downlands Racing with Pat Murphy

For three consecutive weeks Pat’s tips in the naps competition have  won. Last week he tipped ‘Sonnyboyliston’ to win the 20 runner Ebor Handicap and it dually obliged at odds of 10-1. Can he make it 4 in a row and select a winner at Goodwood, Newmarket or Beverley? You’ll need to tune in to find

12.30pm – 1.30pm The 4LEGS Gardening Show with Linda & Jane

On this week’s gardening show we have a bit of a treat, featuring highlights from the local Gardeners’ Question Time, held at Great Shefford last week. Jane Prior, George Dolling and Roger Frith are the experts and Linda Forrester the chairman. There’s also some music breaks.

1.30pm - 2.30pm Pop Quizzical with Tim Stutt

More music trivia and great tunes from the 4LEGS Popmeister spanning the last 60+ years. Pens and pencils at the ready.

2.30pm - 4.30pm Face2Face with Tim & Linda Forrester

This week on Face2Face, Tim and Linda’s guests are Joshua Khan (pic right), maestro of the Great Shefford and his impressive new head chef Sam Cary. Between them, we find out about the plans for the pub, the new menu and the story behind some of Sam’s signature dishes. We ask them plenty of questions and can add any more which listeners mail in (4legsradio@gmail.com) before 2.30 tomorrow(Friday) afternoon.
