Sovereign Housing Association has 40 paid work placements available through its Kickstart job placement scheme. |
The roles are open to anyone aged 16-24, and currently on Universal Credit, whether or not they are a Sovereign resident. Sovereign is part of the Kickstart Housing Partnership led by Clarion Housing Group. The government-backed Kickstart scheme was launched in 2020, in response to the devastating impact COVID-19 has had on youth employment opportunities. Heidi Leyshon, Employment and Training Manager for Sovereign, said: “Kickstart placements offer great work experience and could be the pathway to an exciting new career. “Each placement is for 25 hours per week, lasts for six months and pays minimum wage, though the amount varies depending on the age of the participant. You’ll receive on the job training, mentoring and come out with a qualification at the end of your time with us. We’re not looking for stacks of experience in applicants, we’re looking for a can do attitude and willingness to learn.” The housing organisation is offering a real variety of roles across the south and south west of England, with more positions to come later in the year.
Young people that fit the eligibility criteria can apply via their Work Coach at their local job centre – the closing date is Monday 19 April. Most roles will not be in an office to begin with, due to ongoing pandemic restrictions, but equipment – including a laptop – will be provided to each participant so that they can get set up from home. More positions will be advertised later in the year, so please follow the Sovereign Facebook page for updates or visit https://www.sovereign.org.uk/ |
