9am – 11.15am Yabber Yabber with Chris Capel
It’s another busy Yabber Yabber with two guests. The first is Suzanne Hubbard (right) who is one of the instigators of “My Speaker Friend” which is a project to provide speakers and different content to people who cannot get out too much or live on their own. The second is Kirsty Heath (below left) from ‘Get Berkshire Active’ who talks about the virtual gentle chair exercise sessions they offer for those that are less mobile and physically less able amongst us. Plus there’s the third and final recording of BBC Radio 4’s ‘Down Your Way’ which was broadcast by Lord Oaksey in 1989 and features Simon Sherwood, jockey of the great Desert Orchid and one of Lambourn’s greatest trainers Jenny Pitman (right). On Face2Face, Tim and Linda find out how the Government explained the mysteries of decimalisation 50 years go. Listen to the jingles and devices created to help to explain the changeover. We hear the first part of Billy Connolly’s life story plus contributions from Jimmy Stewart and Les Patterson. We find three new reasons to feel positive about combatting Covid and the music includes Fleetwood Max, Bill Fay and Maxine Brown.
