On a hot late summmer’s afternoon, Denise Herrington completed a five kilometer ‘duckathon’ challenge to raise money for local churches St Mary’s in Great Shefford and St Stephen’s in Shefford Woodlands. This year the churches have been unable to run the normal village duck race so Denise volunteered to be a solo duck and to try to raise much needed church funds in a different way. Dressed in her full (hot) duck outfit, she waddled, ran, sort of swam and cycled her way around the village. She had been training like quackers and undoubtedly set a duckathon course record. She was cheered all the way by very supportive villagers and raised over £1,500 in the process. Thanks to everyone for making this the happiest of village occasions and for supporting Denise so generously.
