Saturday 15th SeptemberMatch Report Compton v Lambourn Sports First

Lambourn Sports First lost 1-0 at home in the cup vs Compton. Ok we had a lot of lads missing but I have to say we were not at our best.. Their goalkeeper saved countless efforts and he was their best player by a mile but unfortunately he was supposed to be suspended so they in actual fact played an illegal player. He’d received a red card the week before and was banned for the next two games. Compton tried to play him under a different name but our club people know him personally so I’m sure we will still go through to the next round as a result of us making an official complaint. There’s no doubt he was their best player and Compton thought it was worth taking the risk by playing him.  Unfortunately it backfired he will no doubt receive an extended suspension or possible ban.’  Report from Lee Ashby

Saturday 8th September Match Report Saxon Rovers v Lambourn Sports First:

‘My first loss today  5-3 away to reigning league champions and multi cup winners Saxton Rovers. It was a end to end game could of been won by either team. We were ahead early. Then went 2-1  and 3-2 down before levelling it at 3-3. It looked like we would go on and win but couple of late mistakes cost us the draw we deserved. Scorers were Luke Plumb 1, and Luke Richards (known as Scouse) got the other 2’

‘First team have their first game at home this coming Saturday vs Compton in the Berks and Bucks intermediate cup, kick off 3pm at Bockhampton Road. RG17-8PS’  Report from Lee Ashby

Saturday 1st September – Match Report Long Whittenham v Lambourn Sports First:

‘We drew on Saturday 1-1 away at Long Whittenham. We were disappointed with that. We had so many chances in the first half enough to put the game beyond doubt.  We didn’t take them and so it came back to bite us going 1-0 down against the run of play. They scored a wonder goal from an angle just inside our box which ended up in the far top corner, there was nothing our keeper could do about it. After a great first half display from us, the second half was poor and both sides didn’t play well, it become a scrappy affair. We eventually got levelled the score to make it 1-1 courtesy of a goal from Daniel Bond. This was the first time a new rule has been used for div 1 where you are allowed to roll on/ roll off subs and therefore not be restricted to 3!! Daniel Bond came off at half time and fortunately because of the new rule came back on to score the equaliser. But overall we were disappointed with a draw, but there we go.’ Report from Lee Ashby
